Get Your Party Started!

One of the best parties to have is a Hawaiian luau. A luau is very joyous party that can be held to celebrate any happy occasion you'd like. Birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, bridal & baby showers, rehearsal dinners you name it...these are all perfect reasons to have a tropical Hawiian Luau party!

A Hawaiian Luau party is filled with Hawaiian music, dancing, fresh beautiful flowers and of course, a yummy Hawaiian feast.

Here are some luau party idea starters:

• Welcome your luau guests with cute little "greeter" in complete hula outfit. Your official host or hostess should make everyone feel welcome with a big "ALOHA" and adorn each guest with a beautiful lei and don't forget a little kiss on the cheek. Aloha is Hawaiian for welcome and love and the lei is a symbol of Aloha.
  
  
• Buy some cute Hawaiian postcards and send out to your guests as invitations. The more tropical the better! As a special touch add a few Hawaiian phrases to the card. Or you could even get real coconuts at the store and paint your invitations on them - for an authentic 3D invitation they won't soon forget.

• Ask your guests to join in the festive spirit by dressing up in hawaiian shirts and casual shorts/skirts so the mood is truly tropical. (Hey, what started the craze of those wild loud Hawaiian shirts? Well, they became popular in the 1930's as visitors to Hawaii wanted to take home souvenirs of their trip. So local Hawaiian clothing companies obliged them by supplying brightly colored tropical shirts for them to take home.)
  
  
• Decorate like you've never decorated before! You'll have a fabulous time designing the perfect luau party. Let your inhibitions run wild - dress up your tables with ti leaves, or authentic fish nets and shells. Hula dolls or parrots make cute centerpieces. Don't forget the tiki torches, and coconut candles!
  
  
• Set up loose orchids or tropical flowers on the tables. Float decorative flowers in the pool if you have one.
  
  
• Don't forget to create a special photo op scenic area for guests to take fun party photos of themselves enjoying the luau. Distribute disposable cameras on the tables and encourage the guests to have a blast with candid and happy luau photos.
  
  
• Of course Hawaiian music is a must! Have a couple ukulele's set out for people to play. (We don't know a lot of ukulele players out there, but hey you never know!) If your guests aren't familiar with playing Hawaiian musical instruments - you can always buy a tape or CD of festive luau music.
  
  
• Luau Party Games 1:Hula Dancing. The traditional Hawaiian luau will always have a bit of hula dancing. It can be really fun but don't forget you'll need hawaiian grass skirts and dancing accessories!
  
  Luau Party Games 2: Limbo Contest. A limbo contest is always good for a hoot as guests try to go lower and lower under a limbo bar. You might try a bamboo stick - at any rate its usually good for some serious laughter especially after guests try to maneuver after gorging themselves on your giant luau dinner.
